The new non-fiction novel by Willem van den Heever
In January 2016 armed with his 35mm camera and a backpack, young film graduate Willem van den Heever cashed in a one-way ticket to America. The plan was to hit the road; hitchhiking from Seattle in the North down to the Mexican border in the South and then on to hike the Pacific Crest Trail up to Canada.
Detours, impassable mountain passes, injuries and near-death experiences cut these plans short, but made for 1000 km worth of tales from the wilderness. These are the stories of the road, the trail, the mountains and of the life-changing characters discovered along the way.
