Skraal

Limited Edish

Regular price R 500.00

Inspired by the popular & mysterious 'Kwaal' stickers typically seen on the bumpers of taxis here in South Africa. Joburg-based designer Magic Cat (aka Shayne Capazorio) saw a chance for a cheeky spin on this familiar piece of local iconography.

SECOND BATCH NOW AVAILABLE. LIMITED TO AN EDITION OF 100.

The original Kwaal sticker is generally understood to mean "you are jealous of me" in the urban vernacular - paired with the sign language symbol for "jealousy" in the illustration above; or in other words "haters gonna hate".

Kwaal however, sounds very similar to the Afrikaans word "skraal", meaning skinny or thin. So by reducing the hand icon to its bare bones, our witty new interpretation tells onlookers that you can be skinny & proud of it too.
